What is PTP?

Pilots Teaching Pilots (PTP) is a global network of qualified native English speaking or ICAO Level 6 proficient Aviation English instructors giving live one-to-one lessons through skype.

What are the lessons like?

They are structured and goal oriented with focus on key areas of communication. Lessons are conducted in highly student involved manner, including communication activities with precise usage of curriculum taught, supported with extensive role plays and practical Aviation English education as the backbone.

Can lessons be customized?

Yes. PTP was built around flexibility and customization geared towards the customers objectives.

How many lessons will it take to reach Level 4 proficiency?

There is no ready-made answer for this question. Language learning is a complex interaction of a number of factors. These include environment, time, commitment, learner style, first language literacy and educational background, motivation, study habits, and the learner's current level of English language proficiency.

How far in advance do I have to book a lesson?

You can request a booking as far in advance as you like. We ask that you submit lesson requests no sooner than 24 hours prior to the desired start time. We have to confirm instructor availability and make preparations for the lesson, so the earlier the better.

Are my requested lesson times guaranteed?

Because our global network has instructors located in many time zones, it is highly likely that we will be able to accommodate your requested times. However, they are not guaranteed. Once we have viewed and accepted your request and sent a confirmation e-mail, the lesson times are guaranteed.

Why are the lessons 40 minutes?

Through a lot of trial and error backed by analyzation and review of lessons, we determined that maximum retention and benefit of the student, as well as instructor performance, peaks at the 40 minute mark.

How many lessons can I take in one day?

You can take as many as you want, all depending on instructor availability. We recommended that a minimum of two lessons be done back to back with a 5 minute break in between. Our maximum recommendation is 5 lessons back to back, with a 5 minute break between each.

How do I schedule a lesson?

Log in to your user account, select a time and a date for all the lessons you would like to book, enter your voucher number, and then submit your request.

What happens after I submit a lesson request?

Once we have viewed your request and confirmed instructor availability, we send you a confirmation e-mail.

How should I prepare for the lesson?

The instructor will send any required materials or data access links via e-mail, and it is recommended that you have everything prepared and ready to go before the confirmed starting time. Also, make sure you have a solid internet connection, and put yourself in a place with minimal distractions.

Why do you use skype?

Skype is the most recognized and dependable voice over internet application. Being able to record lessons, play media files for both parties to hear, and chat capabilities make it a practical choice. As a plus, it's free for all users.

What if I don't always have access to the internet?

We can also do lessons over the phone. Contact us to make arrangements if needed.

Has PTP been accredited by ICAO?

ICAO has not accredited any course or test, claiming it is the responsibility of the country to impose this legislation appropriately.

Can I cancel my lessons and get a refund?

Yes. 100% refunds can be issued for all unused lessons, providing that refund requests are submitted within 60 days of purchase. However, once a scheduled lesson is confirmed with you via e-mail, no refunds for that lesson can be issued if you cancel within 12 hours before the lesson start time. Remember, our instructors are allotting time in their work schedules for your lesson, and they must be compensated for that time..

Are there any additional fees?

No. PTP charges no fees outside of the published lesson rate.
